Safari Overview

Lodge safaris are for the discerning traveller who wishes to experience Eastern Africa’s wilderness in comfort and ease. During the day, you will be out in the bush exploring the wilderness of Tanzania and in the evenings you will enjoy all the amenities that your lodge or tented camp has to offer.

After an exciting day of game drives, seeing animals and being in nature, you will arrive at your lodge or tented camp. Here you will be greeted with a welcome drink, then check in, enjoy a warm shower and prepared for supper. 

Day 1-5 | Tanzania

  • Tarangire National Park – Game drive
  • African Rift Valley – Viewpoint
  • Serengeti National Park – Game drive
  • Ngorongoro Crater – Game drive

Day to day Itinerary

Day 1 Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After a short briefing in the morning, you will drive to Tarangire National Park. You will have your lunch at the picnic spot. In the afternoon keep on driving to explore more of this amazing and beautiful park. In the evening drive to lake Burunge Tented Camp which is located outside of the park for overnight in full board basis.

Day 2 Tarangire Area – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you will check in to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Lodoare Gate and after 5kms you will get to the Crater view point where you can stop for a while to enjoy the view of the crater. Then proceed through the Rim of the crater till you get to the other side while enjoying the free African massage on the bumpy road passing by Maasai villages on your way to Serengeti.

NB: Just to remind you that Ngorongoro Conservation Area is special for multiple activities where Maasai people live in with wild animals and domestic ones in harmony without interference to each other, something which makes Ngorongoro Conservation Area be very unique and different from other National Parks, as you arrive at the Naabi Main Gate you will have your quick lunch and when your guide is sorting out your entry park fees you can take a short walk to the view point on top of the Copjes with spectacular views across the plains of the Serengeti Savannah. Then proceed towards Seronera area in the Central part of the Serengeti. The park offers a multitude of wildlife including the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Late evening you will arrive at the Kati kati Tented Camp for overnight in full board basis.

Day 3 Serengeti National Park

To day after breakfast you will spend the whole day for game drive in the park with your lunch boxes on which you will have it in one of the picnic sites. Depending upon the time of the year, you might even have the chance to witness the great migration with hundred thousands of wildebeests, zebras and Thompson gazelles. During the short rain season in October and November, you will typically see these herds moving from Masai Mara in Kenya through the northwest of the Serengeti to the plains in the south. After the long rain season in April, May and June, the herds slowly move back through the western and north-western part of the Serengeti. Your guide will try his outmost to look for the Migration Naturally, the migration also attracts predators and with luck you might see a kill in action. You will spend another night at the Kati Kati Tented Camp.

Attention:
Please note, that should you travel between the beginning of January until mid-March, you will stay at the Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp. This camp is also situated in the Serengeti National Park but closer to the border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the Ndutu Area. As the herds can either be on the Serengeti or Ngorongoro side this increases your chance of seeing the famous migration.

Day 4 Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu

After breakfast at the daybreak, with your lunch boxes drive straight back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area all the way to the Seneto Decent Gate at the edge of the crater here the 19KM diameter caldera with the circumference of 260KM opens up before you. This World Heritage Site is seasonally home to over 25,000 animals in including a wide variety of birds, hyenas and the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Exiting the crater on a different ascent road, you will drive to Karatu in the Ngorongoro highlands, where you will spend the night at one of the three beautifully located Tanganyika Wilderness Adventure Lodges.

Day 5 Karatu – Arusha

After a relaxing moment of the breakfast you will drive back to Arusha arriving around noon time. For those who wish to combine safari with a trip to Zanzibar can take a flight from the local Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be provided with lunch boxes from the hotel.
