On days Tanzania family Safari, you visit the major iconic parks of Northern Tanzania including Tarangire National Park, the densely populated Ngorongoro Crater and the endless plains of the Serengeti Park. Day to day Itinerary

DAY 1: ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast with lunch boxes drive to Tarangire National Park for game drive. It is about 3hrs drive on the sealed road except 7kms of bumpy road before getting to the main gate. Check in and proceed with game drive.The park is rich in large herds of elephants per squire kilometres, also home to buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, waterbucks, greater and lesser kudus, elands, fringe-eared oryx, lions, cheetahs, leopards, and sometimes wilddogs can also be seen. On top of that, Tarangire has been decorated by massive and unique baobab trees which makes Tarangire to be so special in its landscape.
The park ranges from Savannah, short grass lands, seasonal swamps and lagoons. Most of the animals gather at the life-giving Tarangire River which is source of underground water especially during the dry season. At this time, most of the elephants dig some holes in the river bed to get some water. This has been the reason why most of the animals roam around the river during the dry season. You will have lunch at the picnic site, later on keep on doing game drive heading to the lodge for overnight in full board basis.

DAY 2: TARANGIRE – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (No Crater tour)

Today you will have a long safari from Tarangire to Serengeti Park which will take you about 5 to 6hrs. On the way you will drive through the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley where you can view Lake Manyara National Park as you get up to the top, then after 1hr drive you will get at Lodoare the main gate of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, check in and proceed to the view point where you will have a chance to view the Crater from the Rim. On your way, you will have an option to visit the Museum and the Olduvai Gorge where it is beleived to be the origin of the human kind or you can drive straight to Naabi main entry gate to Serengeti National Park where you can have your picnic lunch. While the guide is doing the park formalities, you can have some few minutes to hike to the Naabi Hill view point to enjoy the plains of Southern Serengeti. There after, drive to the lodge in the Central part of the park for overnight in full board basis.

DAY 3-4: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE – SERENGETI

Serengeti national park provides a chance to witness amazing scenery rich in wildlife and vegetation pattern. The word Serengeti means endless plains in the Maasai language, it is about 14,700 Square kilometres. Serengeti landscape varies from short grass land plains, savannahs, series of hills and famous and unique rocks known as kopjes, which are the outstanding extrusive features which were completely buried underneath formed from volcanic eruption and were excavated by erosion agents. Serengeti is the most famous park in Tanzania and it is home to the famous animal migration on the planet hundreds of thousands of wildebeests which make a huge cycle around the entire park looking for green pastures, water and the calving ground, the area where they give birth to the young ones. Between December and May huge herds of Zebras and wildebeests will be roaming around with calves and foals being born between January and March. So by spending full two days being in this park, your time of enjoyment will be incredible. The game drives in this two days will be determined by game movements. Overnight to the same lodge in full board basis.

DAY 5: SERENGETI – NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

After late breakfast, with picnic lunch take a smooth drive heading to the main gate hoping to have your lunch there. then drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. On your way to the lodge, you can pop in one of the Maasai Boma/Village for a cultural tour where you can experience the Maasai cultures and participate in their local dances as per your wishes. This can take up to one hour. Then proceed to the lodge for overnight in full board basis.

DAY 6: NGORONGORO CRATER – NGORONGORO

Today make sure that, you take very earlier breakfast on request or packed breakfast to depart for the crater tour, hoping to start at 06:00hrs. The aim is to make sure that you are among the first people to get to the crater floor so as to experience the sunrise and movements of different animals during the morning. The wildlife in the crater is just breath-taking, depending on your lucky you might see the Big Five lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. It is possible also to see spotted hyenas, jackals, warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos but excluding giraffes as it is not a proper habitat which can provide enough field for them to feed on due to the nature of the crater floor formation on which does not support the growth of browsing trees eg acacias. And also some of more than 300 bird species can be found in the area. In the Crater is only the reliable place where the black rhino is likely to be spotted. You will have your lunch at Ngoitoktok picnic site or any other picnic site depending on your game movement timing. In the evening drive back to the lodge for full board overnight.

DAY 7: NGORONGORO – LAKE MANYARA

After breakfast, drive out of the Conservation area to Lake Manyara for lunch in the hotel. In the afternoon, you can have a leisure time at the hotel or you can go for a cultural tour walk around Mto wa Mbu where you can visit the rice fields, banana plantations and have a test of local brew made from bananas if you wish that. Go back to the lodge for overnight in full board basis.

DAY 8: LAKE MANYARA – ARUSHA

This is the half-day game safari in Manyara Park. After breakfast with lunch boxes, drive to the park for game drive until lunch time. There after drive back to Arusha for overnight or to take your flight back home.
